Cover April

The photo on the April cover is taken by Javier Valverde and relates to the paper: The temporal dimension in individual-based plant pollination networks, by Valverde et al. here's a short description of the photo:

Unfocused in the background, a bee fly approaches to the flowers of an Erysimum mediohispanicum individual where a Dermestidae is foraging for pollen. In our study population in Sierra Nevada (Spain), bee flies are one of the most common pollinators visiting this plant species. These insects have a highly territorial behavior and some times monopolize a plant individual by aggressively chasing competitors away. This behavior is portrayed in this picture and represents one of countless details found in the beauty of plant-pollinator interactions.
