ORCID ID now mandatory for corresponding authors
Submitted by editor on 11 March 2016.
When submitting a manuscript to Oikos, it is now mandatory for the corresponding author to provide an ORCID ID along with the adress.
ORCiD - Open Researcher and Controbutor ID - is a non-profit organization. Registration is free and takes only a few minutes.
You add your ORCID to your profile in Scholar One/ Manuscript Central. When submitting a manuscript to Oikos, make sure that your profile is updated with ORCID. ORCID is only mandatory for corresponding authors, although we recommend all authors and reviewers to have an ORCID attached to their profiles.
ORCID provides a unique digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher. The ID supports authentication across multiple platforms and allow you to link all your research activities together with a unique identifier. This will help you to get full credit for all your work and will also allow you to keep your contact information and affiliations up-to-date.
You can easily connect your existing publications and merits to your ORCID via systems such as Crossref, Scopus, ResearcherID, Publons etc. Future publications can automatically be added to your ORCID through publisher integrations. Funders, universities and data repositories have all started to see the potential with ORCID and can, after your approval, also access your merits.
You will still remain in complete control of your privacy and can easily chose the level of information that can be accessed by others.
